    Found on Amazon: this product adapts a BNC female connector to be another BNC female connector. Someone was not clear on the concept.

      @BrucePerens_K6BP I laughed, then looked, and found a valid reason. 🤷♂️😀

      maybe as a port saver?

      Stick these on a bench tool - o'scope, VNA, SA, etc - then pug and un plug to hearts content on the adapter. When it wears, replace it. Save the port on the machine.

      @vk6flab @AJ9BM @KA7O - My semi-pro VNA came with a tiny torque wrench for repeatability in SMA connection, I think that would increase wear. I do notice that the cable internet techs torque those F connectors down severely or they hardly work at all.

      @AJ9BM @KA7O @BrucePerens_K6BP so far the closest I've come to that is using a short SMA patch lead on the NanoVNA. Any recommendations for an SMA port saver?

      @vk6flab @KA7O @BrucePerens_K6BP 500 matings is not at all long for test equipment. I probably put a dozen or two cycles on my NanoVNA when building a linked dipole for 10/15/20/30.

      I've been noticing some sloppiness after a few years' use, so I just put portsavers on it a couple months ago. Hopefully they work, because replacing those giant SMAs sucks enough that I'd probably just get a new one and experiment on this unit.

      Interesting that you raise the cycle count for an SMA connector. 500 cycles in my radio shack is likely going to exceed my lifetime.

      @vk6flab @AJ9BM @KA7O - I can't recommend an SMA port saver on a VNA, it's going to add reactance.

      @BrucePerens_K6BP @AJ9BM @KA7O you can calibrate the NanoVNA and include the port saver in the calibration.
