   @loke It is billions, though. If you can convince IBM to pay $1M/year for social media hosting—and that’s plausible—that’s a big step towards justifying their $700M valuation.
   
   Now I don’t think they’ll take this approach, but that’s a different story.

     Bluesky could easily make money now if they entered the hosting business and sold PDS’ to enthusiasts and organizations.
     
     And before you say, “That approach hasn’t been validated”—yes, it has. It’s the main way the Fediverse is monetized.
