   Already in 24 hours, Pixelfed has gained 11,000 users. Right now, the app has 311,575 total users.
   
   And on Android, it’s the #1 social app in several markets including the U.S.

     @technobaboo Pixelfed requires a separate account because it’s a separate app. But you can use your Mastodon account to create a Pixelfed account.
     
     Also, because Pixelfed uses ActivityPub, you don’t need to cross post. Mastodon and other ActivityPub enabled apps and servers simply receive a post from Pixelfed.

     @atomicpoet i know pixelfed supports activitypub but... it's so hard to tell if i can use my existing fediverse account with pixelfed apps or how the cross-app compatibility works?
