   @jrychter They took over from the person who used to relocate the power button (who was allegedly replaced by a committee after the Centris 610 fiasco—the power button was where a PC's disk eject button would be, this made them *really* annoying in school/university labs).

     By this point I am convinced that there is a person at Apple whose only job is to invent new ways of regularly switching the volume buttons around on various devices, so that we never know which button is "volume up" and which "volume down".
