   @ai6yr Or that a record number of acres have burned in the US and Canada in the last five years. The 2023 Canada fires burned some 45.70 million acres.

   The Palisades and Eaton fires in LA total <38k acres burned which you could say is ~12,000 times smaller an area than what burned in Canada. The difference? The fires are in LA, one of the biggest urban areas in America.

     "How could this happen" folks were *NOT* paying attention to the Santa Rosa fires, Thomas Fire, Camp Fire, Woolsey Fire (plus countless others) and the Lahaina fire. Anyone who hasn't seen the entire world has crossed a threshold is in denial.
