   Cannabis with a street value of more than £1m has been found in two neighbouring 'designer' homes in a quiet village.

   More than 1,000 plants were being grown in 18 different rooms in the five-bedroom houses in Mill Road, in Fen Drayton, Cambridgeshire.

   Police said what had once been two "designer homes" had been "destroyed, with windows boarded, holes in walls, doors removed and cabling everywhere".

     @carolen we legalized cannabis 10 years ago in my state. Every once in a while the cops will find an illegal grow like this, and thw holes can be repaired, but the biggest problem is mold. Interior walls are not designed for high levels of moisture. And inevitably these houses are rented, and the mold gets into the walls. The cops arrest the slave labor (likely Chinese) but the renter is nowhere to be found and the damage is in the tens of thousands!

     @inscius @carolen and if I remember right, homeowners insurance doesn't cover it because the damage occurred while committing a crime. So the owners are completely screwed.

     Most of the illegal weed around here is grown by the Chinese.

     They smuggle the illegal pesticides and herbicides into the USA so the weed is totally tainted with chemicals.

     But with a 47% tax, the legal weed is just way more expensive.

     @Peaceandprosperity @carolen That's very high tax :/ Are the criminals who get caught get deported? In Europe they usually are not.
