   @Rainer_Rehak I *love* the next sentence in the text:

   “I try to learn certain areas of computer science exhaustively; then I try to digest that knowledge into a form that is accessible to people who don't have time for such study.”

   It’s an extremely succinct description of the role of an academic. It’s also rather humble: Knuth could have said “I do all this so people who aren’t as smart as me can comprehend this stuff.” But instead he went with “anyone can do this, if they get enough time” ❤️
