   I wonder if any of those billionaires who gave 1 million dollars to the upcoming kakistocracy’s “inauguration funds” are also donating to organizations helping victims of the L.A. fires? Especially since many of them live in California? 🤔

     @_elena very unlikely Elena, the tech oligarches only focus is to make as much money as possible and take it out of the pocket of the tech users. When they donate money it will be directed to those who will keep them free from juridical or moral resposibility and Pavel theorie way to power.

     @_elena Very unlikely Elena. Their only focus is making money and emty the pocket of tech users. When they donate, the money only goes to those who are capable of safeguarding them for juridical or moral resonsibility. Which means they only donate to those with polical power. Sad, but the reality at the moment

     I was in shock when I heard that Tim Cook sent him $1 million of his personal money

     @_elena Some will. They will make a point of donating a sum to a charity (for those deductions), smile for the camera, and then donate twice that to a lobby to reduce government spending on the fire department and thus lower their taxes.

     @_elena @benhulshof and FWIW Apple (the company) *is* donating to the wildfire relief efforts. i don't know how much, I don't think that information's been given. meanwhile he pays the protection money out of his own pocket. i'm not sure that needle can really be threaded tbh but that does feel like what's going on at apple.

     @_elena Probably. A lot of them are their neighbors and they may want to look good to the people they interact with regularly. It also always pays to have people feeling they owe you.
