     @7666 the Hollywood hills are gridded with a fire sprinkler system and we always thought that was the safest idea ever until a firefighter told us one year that if it were ever activated it would consume it's entire reserve of water in about ninety seconds and that it basically meant all efforts to contain the blaze had failed.
     
     It got used this year as a last resort when fire breeched Runyon canyon. Fires approached within 8 blocks of my old apartment.
     
     Pasadena residents are also told in no uncertain terms their water is forfeit when a fire breaks out near JPL labs.
