To the People of California Affected by the Wildfires,

From across the world, in Ukraine, our hearts go out to you during this unimaginable time of loss and uncertainty. While our circumstances differ, the emotions and experiences that connect us—leaving home with no certainty of return, the aching silence when loved ones can’t be reached, the devastation of losing animals and cherished places, and the struggle of displacement—are all too familiar to us.
