   I had been thinking of going back to a Pixel phone, my 3XL is still the best phone I ever owned.

   Looks like they’re basically just AI-infused junk now.

     @chris my 6a is nice and it's old enough that it doesn't get most of the AI features. I am hoping it lasts long enough for this current bubble to die down

     @jnv I tried that last time and it just didn’t work. I have to have a Google or Apple account (and all they come with) for travel. I do less of that at the moment, but I don’t expect that will last. When I tried alternatives it failed spectacularly, even just for my own use.

     @chris I ❤️ my 8 Pro because I appreciate the "vanilla" Android experience without any kind of manufacturer skin. Gemini is installed but I rarely use it, and then really only for Assistant-type requests. "Call B----." "Add this to my calendar." "Send a text to H----."

     Same. I've an 8 Pro and if there's any AI at play during my daily use, I don't notice it.
