   Relevant Lenin: "Unity is a great thing and a great slogan. But what the workers' cause needs is the unity of Marxists, not unity between Marxists, and opponents and distorters of Marxism."

   But... adaptation of approach to modern era: the world is burning, wealth inequality is unprecedented, western propaganda is rampant and successful, development of AI presents unique concerns for workers... 1/2

     The question is whether left unity would work. A political movement needs a combination of ideological unity and differing opinions and perspectives to be successful, and having too little in either direction will lead to disaster. Too little differing opinions and perspectives will lead to dogmatism and rigidity, and too little ideological unity will lead to a lack of cohesion in political action, and I feel as though a United Front of leftists would have the second problem.

     I'm for left unity to defeat the common enemy, the primary contradictions of our time that threaten human existence, and sorting out our secondary differences once that is achieved.

     But it's a tough sell, convincing Trots to bury the icepick, MLs to work with Trots and Maoists, Anarchists to overcome COINTELPRO... it's a lot. 2/2
