A few of my friends from Facebook are sticking their toes into Mastodon now: guys, this is for you.

People are wary of following blank profiles. You will want to put up an avatar photo, whether a photo of you or not, and something to introduce yourself. You can pin an introduction post to the top of your feed. You can add info about yourself in your profile.

Search hashtags to find your peeps, others who are interested in the same things you are. Post and use hashtags so people can find you. Because there's no algorithm to push posts into your feed, you have to do a bit of work yourself. It's worth it.
