     @jkohlmann They did the e2ee before they got their exit cash. And zuck is more interested in mining your relationship graph than the contents of your messages. Something they get as soon as you install WhatsApp and let it harvest your contacts. They made it almost impossible to use without contacts permission - the only way to start a new chat is constructing an invite link with the person's phone number and opening the link with the app.
