the most dangerous weapon capitalists have against the left (in america at least) is the bare minimum. a federal pto mandate, federal minimum wage hike, rental reform, and a slightly-less-shitty healthcare system would basically obliterate the US left. it says a lot that even that is too much for them though.

we’re lucky most rightwing populists are morons because things could get really scary really fast and i fully believe 60%+ of this country would sell out [insert minority group here] in a heartbeat if they were offered actual “populist” reforms. 50% of the country is already willing to do it for nothing.

ok but like to clarify this second post here is the point i was trying to make, that for many americans their populist views end the moment they personally are no longer suffering. not that we should all become european social democrats.

@Frank i was reading a new yorker article about the "pivot to the family" thing that the heritage foundation is doing. Some of the actual policies they are proposing in support of this ideological shift are modest welfare programs for families. More paid time off, more childcare support, money in the pockets of people. The people in question are of course the ones who align with their nazi ideology, but this is how you get people on board with your nazi ideology. The dem platform seems to have completely abandoned the notion of actually helping people and has left themselves wide open to being exploited by actual fascists seeking to implement actual naziism
