This is really good advice. When I say I like to argue on good faith, this is what I mean. Straw manning is fun when we are dealing with certain people, but there are a lot of unaligned things that don't fall cleanly into preconceptions. I can't speak for everyone, but I still find areas of my small L liberal upbringing that I've never challenged or examined until someone, usually here, digs a bit at something I say in passing.

@BowsacNoodle @nugger I've also seen a lot of spergs who can't explain themselves and when they do, it's even worse than you initially thought.

@Dicer @nugger This happens too. Sometimes you give people enough rope to hang themselves. But the process of choosing how and when to let people do this is helpful for yourself and others. It's not Socratic for annoyance sake, but more of a nudge to ask for clarify.
