     It's generally true that the house always wins, but that's really not worth a 2000-word essay, is it? Nobody needs that much context to explain the obvious.
     
     The value of a theory is its ability to explain - and better yet, predict - black swan events, when the house does not always win. That is worth a 2000-word essay. It's worth a 50,000-word essay.
