   The second machine that @eazy brought is a C64G with the typical 250469 shortboard. Usually these are very robust. However this one obviously doesn't work either.

     The Diag ROM also runs, but is equally garbled. I think it is the character ROM, which is dead. I think I have to solder a replacement one...

     Dead Test seems to be running, but is heavily garbled, which suggests the character ROM being damaged.

     It has a picture, but the screen is pretty garbled. It doesn't respond to key presses. Which leads me to believe that it might be ROM issue. This revision has only two ROMs. One character ROM and one combined BASIC / Kernal ROM.
