@jimv @cmconseils I grew up in Spain, but left quite young, and it wasn't until I returned and learnt adulty things that I realized it simply wasn't polite, when you met someone new, to ask what they did for a living. It's not quite taboo, but it's considered unfriendly and impolite and kind of rude.
And then in made a lot of sense to me, that you meet people as people - not as earners or experts or workers. It's humanistic.

This reminds me of the cultural rules that when you get together with new Spanish friends, it's considered pretty rude to ask people what they do for work. People are not their jobs.
You're at a table, eating and drinking. No one gives a shit what anyone's job is.
