I was expecting a struggle to get the new Indy game running well on my, according to the recommended specs, lowly 5600X and 3080, but it actually runs fine. It tried to run at 1080 but seemed fine with 4K DLSS (Balanced), no noticeable hitches and looks very nice. I’m sure it looks even better at Turbo Ninja settings but I’m still going “ooo”. It’s so asset-dense, the environments are crazy, you can glance over weeks of person hours work with a quick spin of the right stick 😬

@dev_ric that’s what I will always call my top graphics settings, “Epic” is so bland

OK I didn’t expect Indy to be basically a new Thief game. It’s very open ended, mostly about sneaking about and nicking stuff, and the guards in the Vatican (fascists) even whistle the same way. I’m into it

Seriously, I’m really quite surprised how much of a 1998 Thief vibe this is giving me, just with the narrative aspects replaced with a very good (so far) Raiders/Holy Grail Indy yarn. Huge respect to Bethesda & Machineworks for even making a game like this in 2020’s. I expected a “modern Tomb Raider” and it’s totally not that, it’s way better. I have a gun and in 8 hours I haven’t shot it once because it doesn’t feel right to do so (no guys with swords in a market yet)

Oh and Troy Baker does a much better young Harrison Ford voice than I expected. It’s not quite him, but it’s close enough that you forget that it’s not the real thing most of the time.
Oh and I love how much Indy grunts and strains when he does physical stuff. He’s not an action hero, he’s a professor that does some adventuring on the side. Perfect. So much better than Rambo Lara
