I'm loving this idea: major public broadcasters like the CBC (in Canada), BBC, NPR, etc would open Mastodon servers to enable content users to publish - a whole new social media engagement. It also allows them to escape their overreliance on Facebook and Twitter. Over time we users could rely on a common set of high standards and longevity. What do you think? https://theconversation.com/canadas-public-broadcaster-should-use-mastodon-to-provide-a-social-media-service-194116
@janicebraden I actually think this would work well for governments as well. The government of Canada could have its own server and all the departments and government officials could have accounts on it. You'd know it's official government info and would be entirely independent.
