   I saw this owl on yesterday's walk, in the same tree on the same branch, as the owl I saw on my solstice walk. Presumably the same owl. I believe it is a great horned owl, but the branch it's perched on is high in the tree, so I could be wrong. I found it by the "who." I walked past the tree, looked up, and it was staring straight down at me. The deer seem to be doing well this year. I've seen a lot more bucks with antlers. Monday's #dailywalk, #pilgrimsprogress: 10,170 steps, 4.4 miles.

     According to my iParasite, in 2024 I've walked as average of 2.9 miles per day, down from 3.6 miles per day in 2023. I've walked about 1059 miles this year, down from 1314 miles. 2,582,000 steps, down from 3,464,580 steps. 2024 has been a tough year for me and mine. I haven't had as much time to walk. I've spent a lot of time sitting in hospital rooms; one daughter had a stroke, and then open heart surgery, the other daughter lost a kidney, is facing dialysis, and is on the transplant list...

     ...My oldest friend totaled one of my daughter's car, breaking his shoulder, back, and hip. Another old friend has cancer. Throw in some deaths and funerals, won't go into the details. Also affecting my walking; I have very little cartilage left in my knees, so knee replacement is in my future, but I have to get the hernia taken care of first. So, ya, rough year.

     But I'm still on my feet, still walking, still on pilgrimage, still on the way to Finisterre. I've walked 4,632 miles on this path so far. I'll get there, one way or other. If I have to crawl.
