Any mechanics on fedi? Partner has had issues tracking down an issue
Got a Mazda 3 2004 2.0L 5sp Manual Hatchback that's getting rpm fluctuations at idle when in neutral, jumping up and down between 650 and 1200 rpm usually after running for a little but is inconsistent.
- We've cleaned the throttle body & idle air control valve*, checked for clean movement
- Reset the idle memory
- Checked the Throttle positon, MAF and MAP sensors
- Had one CEL at random (P0507 idle air control system rpm higher than expected), occured long after the issue started and hasn't reoccured since clearing
- Recently replaced fuel filter, engine air filter, sway bar links & engine mounts
- Doesn't correlate with refueling, so we believe the purge valve system is uninvolved
- Doesn't correlate with AC on/off
- Engaging the clutch typical causes the rpm to drop back to regular levels
* Cleaning the IAC did make low speed maneuvering considerably smoother, maybe we just need a second clean.

@izaya @natalie >3/4 injectors were on the way out
Doesn't the service manual say to change them after such distance for a reason? -

@natalie 3/4 injectors were on the way out, which is apparently pretty typical for a 20-year-old car with 300kkm on the clock -

@natalie Not a mechanic but I've been dealing with similar issues on my 05 Swift. Check the injectors and for fuel contamination.
Mechanic's getting me to dump a bottle of metho in after filling up each time and seeing if it helps because it seems to be fuel contamination in my case and apparently the metho will help work the water out of the system.
