If Musk gets his ass blown off, it's a conversation you don't need to have with him. Given the pushback Trump himself has had with the "staple to the diploma" stuff, it would be reasonable for him to know this a sensitive subject.

     This immigration nightmare has taken a lot of planning by bad people to execute it. It's not going to be solved in a week, a year. Almost certainly not a decade. It has compromised a lot of people, and as such is nearly a gordian knot.
     
     Trump isn't anyone's savior. He isn't going to cut the knot, nor does have the political power to do so. Reward him when he does good things, punish him when he does bad things.
