     there's a reason a lot of people in AOC's district also voted Trump -- they both present themselves as less out-of-touch than their oppponents. whether this is true is up to your own debate, but "realness" appears to be a key issue. we have once again reinvented "i would have a beer with X politician" politics

     whereas fascism is inherently exclusionary, you can pick which groups you want to exclude. maga fascism excludes nonwhite people and there's a lot of white people who like that. nerd fascism excludes anyone who isn't a silicon valley or nyc techbro and now you are left with not that many people tbh
