Folks, these are just the facts. There have been whole studies about this where decades after the fact folks have interviewed German Nazis and found that they felt no remorse for what they'd done, and didn't even see it was wrong.
Once you've hit the point that your only solution is kill, imprison, or enslave anyone who doesn't agree with you, you're very much beyond being talked off the ledge. That's the history. You don't HAVE to like it. It's how fascism works.

A whole fucking LOT of you are looking for solutions that allow you to "save nazis" or stop fascism without fighting and I am here to tell you history says they don't exist.

@ruicarneiro @AnarchoNinaWrites Sigh... Thinking about that time pisses me off. If the Allies truly cared about fighting fascism in Europe they'd at least would have ended the job by intervening in Spain and Portugal and overthrowing Franco's and Salazar's régimes. You know, the same fucking guys that were helping those very evil nazis.
But nah. It was never about fascism.

@nasd1066 @ruicarneiro Allen Dulles (who would have been tried for treason after the war if FDR didn't die) literally used Allied troops to break Nazis out of jail to fight Communist partisans in Europe; it's way worse than even mainstream histories will acknowledge.
This is why I tend to say "when we stopped the 3rd Reich" rather than "when we stopped fascism." Given that honestly the US in particular subsumed fascism to fight the Cold War even before WWII was over.

@AnarchoNinaWrites the person I knew prepandemic who was loudest about saving Nazis (and he liked to pretend he was a huge antifascist - it never rang true honestly) has in fact become one now. So you are not wrong.
