     “THERE were 2 “Reigns of Terror,” if we would but remember it & consider it; 1 wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; 1 lasted mere months, the other lasted 1000yrs; 1 inflicted death upon 10,000 persons, the other upon a 100,000,000; but our shudders are all for the “horrors” of minor Terror, momentary Terror; whereas, the horror of swift death by axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break?
