A new diamond battery can consistently produce energy for thousands of years, based on carbon-14 as an internal power source.

The only problem is that it produces about 200 microwatts, maximum. So about 200 of these could run a Raspberry Pi Pico. 300 if you use WiFi.-

@Aether Too bad if it turns out to be workable and mass-producible, it'll be dead until the patents expire after 20 years.
It's a RTG and not a battery, considering you don't need to charge it.
Ideally you could just make a larger one with 300 grams or Carbon-14 or whatever and that'll supply power practically for an unlimited amount of time.In conversation permalink
