There's a LKML thread I'm somehow CC'd on titled "Add memblock_alloc_or_panic interface" and this seems utterly bonkers and indicative of something deeply wrong with how kernel is handling resource reservation, but classic Linux-kernel-brain. Unless it's only usable at early boot or something.
