@guy that's what we mean by the takeover of the trinity by the patriarchy, bingo. The trinity is female maiden, mother, crone. - KeepTakingTheSoma likes this.

:::NIGHT OF THE MOTHERS:::
The first night of Yule as well as Christmas Eve are both associated with an ancient Anglo-Saxon observation called Mōdraniht, or 'Mother's Night'- which featured the veneration of an often triple aspected Mother figure associated with the Nordic Dísir, usually holding a basket filled with fruits or nuts, to denote fertility.
Also known as the Matres and Matronae, these Mothers were said to bring blessings to the family, to protect hearth, home, and tribe, and as Holy Midwives, also presided over the rites of passage associated with birth and death (womb and tomb mothers). Offerings were thought to have been made to the Mothers of pigs, fruits, and incense- and the Mothers were associated with the snake, the ancient symbol of the regenerative and healing powers of the Goddess. It is my belief that the Three Marys of the Christian faith are connected to this earlier holy female triad.
Traditions of Mōdraniht included a devotional feast with family,
and an all-night vigil by the hearth held by the mothers of the house, presided over by the grandmother. Blessings upon the youngest members of a clan were given by these elder women in the name of the Mothers, a sacred guardianship bestowed.
Blessed be the Night of the Mothers!
