   You have to give it to #spotify - with each new version their UI gets more cluttered and messier, but they finally got "now playing" song properly shown in the panel in #Linux on #KDE / #Ubuntu. It took them just about 3 years and like 30+ minor versions!

     @tyil @dusoft The whole idea of free software is that it is a replacement to proprietary malware, not a mere alternative.
     
     I believe there were/is partially free spotify clients, but even if you used a free software client, that would not solve the issue of how spotify is SaaSS.
