Z.T. policies hurt the victims far more than they ever hurt the offenders. If you fight back (and even sometimes if you didn't) you'd still run the risk of expulsion. It doesn't stop bullies, it just gives them yet another weapon to disrupt and ruin a kid's life by dragging them into a situation where they are fucked if they fight and fucked if they don't. If a kid is already there to beat up on people they don't give a fuck about their future so telling them they have a legal means of staying at home all day means fuck-all to them, and even worse if the kids are black and disruptive the schools are already trying their damnedest not to punish them because they want those black and brown incident numbers to look great, so nothing happens to them either. It's fucked.

Wonder what would happen in public schools in the US if they got rid of Zero Tolerance.
I used to get bullied until I realized most people are pussies and I broke their nose, or gave them a concussion. It usually stopped fairly quickly after that.
Now the bullies are the squirly kids that know if you hit them you are going to kid jail and if you say something the school administration does nothing
My dad told me that fighting was pretty common in schools in the 70's and nobody shot the place up
