   A fascinating detail of this incident (via @nullagent) is that although the assailant fled, he apparently took no measures to conceal his identity.

   Despite the huge shock-and-awe display in the Mangione case — overblown terrorism charge, publicity shot with the massive police entourage, etc — punishment didn’t seem to be a deterrant.

     P.S. Important to note the “officials say” part. We don’t really know the back story or motivation here; it may be completely different sort of story.

     @inthehands This says he's been working there since Dec 4, which is the day Brian Thompson was killed, so it doesn't seem like if the plan was to be hired in order to get a chance to kill the guy it was inspired by the earlier killing. Far more likely this was just another of the many workplace killings we see in the US. The "copycat" narrative is just bullshit from the cops.
