@seawall I have a friend who loves NZ to bits, is really apprehensive about the U.S., but is moving here because she has a deaf child she believes NZ will absolutely fail. Seems rough. I am sorry you have to deal with not having very much help.

I started crying on the phone too, and she said, "I'm sorry, it sounds like you're at the end of your rope" and, well, yeah.
I hate to say it, but NZ is just proving over and over that the end of our rope isn't even anything they can help with. Opting instead for the bottom of the cliff.

The woman on the phone has been for the most part sympathetic, but asking for a safety plan, using words like, "Can you contain him if needed?"
He's not a vicious dog, Goddammit. I was crying about it earlier but now I'm just mad.
I told her we'd fill out the questionnaires they sent (yes, more fucking paperwork), but I'm so over this.
I don't think I can convince Flip that these people are here to help, now that I'm mad at them.

I understand and don't expect people to put up with being struck, but while on the phone earlier today with the next person we were consulting, she brought up the incident as a safety concern.
Now... I kinda wanna give up. Professional child psych services here just don't seem like a good fit.
He's a clever, overly anxious, complicated kid. He's not aggressive or overly violent. But that's how he's been framed now, and so it feels like there can't be trust. 😔

*sigh*
So, if you recall dear followers, the last person who we consulted with about support came on a uniquely bad day, I didn't give my 8yo adequate warning for her arrival, he was surprised into a fight response and hit her arm, so she left immediately, according to SOP. Even though he started crying and apologising and begging her to come back.
