Github telling me that I can now use Copilot is a reminder that you, yes you the free software developers with a project on Github, are the one preventing me to delete my account.
Seriously. Get your public projects out of Github.

@ploum I don’t get your point. You’ve deleted your account from Twitter, LinkedIn, and so on without blaming the other users for preventing you to do so. Why doing it for Github users? You can still get their code and if you want to contribute you can find other ways to do so: like cloning the code locally and using sourcehut/codeberg for the remote instead of github. Or just by sending patches by email.
Am I missing something?
@vjousse : yep: bug reports.
You can't discuss bugs and send patches to project on github.
@ploum I know that but, for Twitter, LinkedIn, you found another way to reach the people that were on the plateform: email.
Don’t see why you could’nt do the same here (using git log ans git show to get the email). I’m not saying people should not leave GitHub (because they should), I’m just surprised that you’re blaming other people for your decision to stay on GitHub but had no problem leaving other platforms. It doesn’t sound very “ploumesque” to me 😁
