@Betty @kittyc yep same system in Australia. "x-ply" is used to describe the yarn weight, not its construction. It's not particularly logical, but maybe it's more consistent?? Makes it a little easier to substitute yarns I guess.
Lace = 2-ply
Light fingering = 3-ply
Fingering = 4-ply
Sport = 5-ply
DK = 8-ply
Worsted = 10-ply (?)
Bulky = 12-ply (?)
(I'm not sure about the heavier weights cos I rarely use them)
