i think this is the most important thing to convey when trying to pitch fedi to people
it's not some corporate silo that'll enshittify and inevitably go away in a few years. it is a fundamentally different more prosocial and resilient way of doing social media

i think a lot of people go into fedi expecting a similar experience to corpo social media
but the whole point is that we're NOT that
so highlighting the major differences and massive benefits is important imo

i always tell people
it's NOT corporate social media
it's SOCIAL social media
largely run by volunteers because they believe in it rather than some big corpo for profit
and this decentralized community control of the platform makes content moderation infinitely better, which fosters a more welcoming positive space overall
