   So you pay the first $3000 out of pocket or whatever, and the idea is, you keep all the receipts for like 2, 5, 10 years. Then when you’ve made enough money in the stock market you can.. reimburse yourself.

   I hate that I’ve been here long enough to understand how this works. And why some people like this.

   Everything here is a financial instrument! That helps me understand this country better. I’m no longer perplexed by it.

     @skinnylatte Also you can't take the noney back out of the account I think, you HAVE TO use it for healthcare expenses. There are so many different and non-fungible kinds of tax advantaged money, this is also why you can't use your Clipper card to pay at a convenience store or whatever.

     @crzwdjk you can when you retire. People with resources see it as an extra 7-8K a year they can save and grow tax-free.

     @skinnylatte @crzwdjk I've had employee health insurance for half of my adult life, and TIL about the retirement aspect of the HSA.

     @locustangerine @crzwdjk it's pretty 'new'. like gw bush era. you only get it if your org offers a high deductible plan.
