Today marks 10 years plus two months of me buying the first 3 Philips Hue lights. After that I replaced all lights in my apartment with Hue. Not one of them has stopped working. I broke one through my own clumsiness (dropped it on the floor, broke the housing). In total I now have 20+ lights still working flawlessly after 10 years. That’s impressive, I admit.

They were quite expensive. I was not sure if they will survive long enough to justify the investment. I can now safely say that it was worth it :)

I have programmed a few lighting scenes per room that I can switch to with the little remotes. One remote per room. I also made sure that I can always switch them on and off with the mechanical light switches that are still there. In case of emergency or when guests are here you don’t want confusion. And finally: no cloud or internet needed for everything to work.

@jwildeboer I still wonder why the manufacturer stopped producing the original Hue Tap light switch without batteries. They are powered by kinetic energy and still work after 10 years as well (although that's exactly what I expected). They sometimes have a rare issue and stop working without a good reason, but after resetting them they keep going like nothing happened.

@jwildeboer Does the Hue Bridge not require Internet access? Or are you using something else?
