@grahamperrin oh, OK! So, from the replies, I think a lot of people were uncomfortable with government-run social media, especially without end-to-end encryption. Other people were happy with their current servers and didn't see a reason to leave. Another one that came up was that living in a city might be a short-term situation, and if they left the city they would expect to have to move their account. Without a good way to move their content as well as their social graph, it seemed precarious.

@grahamperrin For me, I'm happy to see so many yes answers. I think the fediverse is about diversity of governance, and I think this model, urban government electronic infrastructure, is an interesting option.
