The whole brazenness of the wholesale import of Hatians has blown up the "legal migrant" scam that the system + businesses have been pulling for ever.
Normal people had be intentionally tied up on the "immigration is ok as long as it is legal" - but because they couldn't wait and pushed to the limit of "ah,ah,ah this is LEGAL" people finally said 'I don't care'

@kf01 yeah that's certainly the result. The irritating part is that so many lies are going into pushing people to it. -

@HWABAG @kf01 the problem is that it isn't even that. The price increase from paying people well to do things by hand during the picking phase is like 5%.
The entire system is just oriented wrong, which is what the whole RFK thing is about. Maybe it's cheaper to dye food with petroleum byproducts than natural dyes, but that's just the wrong way to optimize this entire system.AlabasterBrick ?☠️ likes this. -

@HWABAG @kf01 Sure it might be cheaper to crop dust 100 acres with roundup, but is that really what we want? -

@HWABAG @kf01 indeed! many organic farmers will use fire to kill off weeds and so those machines that use lasers to achieve it would work too.
But my point is that you can't argue "we can automate this, and it's cheaper" because we don't even want to be arguing about "what is cheapest" -

this might surprise you but automation and organic agriculture practices are not incompatible Bread up, Bro likes this.
