     Chris-chan was never convicted of anything. He just sat in pretrial detainment for a couple years while his lawyer purposefully stalled the court and eventually the state was like "This is a waste of money, plus he'd walk from time served anyway." and dismissed the charges.

     Being found not guilty by reason of insanity is so much worse than just being found guilty. It's not like the movies at all. You aren't handed a "get out of jail free" card, just an all-expenses paid lifetime stay at Casa de Cuckoo.
