     @Gargron i posted a toot at someone, and it shows up in my main public timeline in a way that all my followers see it by default rather than just people looking at my ‘posts and replies’ or mutuals of the other account. not sure why. probably user error? there’s probably a technical reason. then i posted about that, and that post didn’t post and it seems like it’s vanished forever. probably also user error. i probably need to get fediverse for dummies book or something

     @jk Starting a post with someone’s username has never automatically turned it into a reply on Mastodon. Only replying to someone’s post does that. I am sorry for the confusion.

     @jk That’s very strange. Maybe it’s a Mastodon for iOS bug? Though I’ve never hit it myself and I’m responding from the same app. I’ll raise it with the developer just in case.

     @Gargron yeah, the post is gone? What i said was something like “I dont pay attention to anything when i post on my phone because i dont like using my phone”

     @Gargron the original post was funnier and better probably. but it i hit publish and it’s Nowhere! anyway yet another reason to stop using my phone i suppose if it cant even post reliably

     @Gargron i looked for an error log somewhere in the app but there doesn’t seem to be one? i suppose I could do a bunch of test posts or something. I didn’t get an error or anything, just posted as normal and then it wasn’t there.
