Wrote a letter to editor of The NY Times about fact there has been no coverage of the murder of Yeremi Colino, a teen allegedly murdered for not speaking English. There have been 30+ stories about Brian Thompson’s murder. I am not suggesting the latter isn’t newsworthy, but the former also is.
Nearly 40% of NYC residents were born abroad. NYC had 11.6 million foreign tourists in 2023. A murder of someone for not speaking English is a threat to many New Yorkers & to the city’s financial success.
