I've read that the Nazis built the gas chambers because of the human toll of so many summary executions on the soldiers assigned to the task. German soldiers were committing suicide. Solution: assign a clerk to check people into the "showers" and turn a couple of valves on the other side of a wall from the condemned.
Insurance companies are looking to AI because the denial of medical coverage also takes a toll with perhaps too few people like Dave Opperman to do the job.
