the role of the superhero is to 'save the world'; protect it. y'know, keep the status quo status quo-ing.

the villains (at least the interesting ones), want to 'fix the world'. shake things up, make a dent. that's why they're always monologing.

in the fictional world of the silver screen or four-colour pages, it's obvious who the good guys and who the bad guys are. but when some rando in real life stands up and does some straight-up riddler shit, the whole planet goes 'fuck yeah!'.
