     @machaddr all BSDs provide precompiled packages, except maybe for some really slow or niche architectures

     @machaddr actually, there were few packages not because they were not compiled, but because there is only this small subset which still compiles

     over time, less and less packages are compatible or compiling on older architectures

     @solene True, I once installed OpenBSD for a Apple powerpc machine (PowerBook G4 12") and the binary packages were few to compare with someting like AMD64. I switched to Gentoo PPC and the machine is fine with some tweaks now.
