Should young children be shielded from the word 'no'? Nell Frizzell (a parent herself) explores the trend in parenting to minimise the word 'no'...

Its an interesting Q. but partially submerged within it is the question of how do children who've seen 'no' de-emphasised go on to deal with the issue of consent?

We already know young men seem to think 'no' really means 'yes' when it comes to sexual relations.... are we storing up more gender troubles?

The gentle, child-led approach to raising children has become popular with millennials – and one two-letter word has fallen sharply out of fashion. Is this progress, or a recipe for future disaster?

@ChrisMayLA6 Huh? Where did a stupid idea like that come from? "No" is probably the most important word for children to know and know how to use.

@ChrisMayLA6 teach boys agency and consent their entire lives or do not fuckin have them.

if any parent is somehow still getting that simple, natural, and non-negotiable parenting instinct wrong just give me their name and location. I will be happy to reeducate these abusers' arms and legs off.

get it right the first time folks.

@fak @ChrisMayLA6 Thankfully no is a complete sentence. You don't need to be able to understand it in a larger sentence until you can.

@ChrisMayLA6 under a certain age (around 2-3) children don't recognise and understand the words 'no' and 'not' in a sentence, so you do need to work around that until they do.
