   Anyone else get unreasonably annoyed that literally everyone's point of reference for everything is WWII? Every authoritarian movement is 1930s fascism, bad leaders are Hitler, the use of "concentration camps" for places where nobody is being killed, etc.

   I find it especially irksome when I agree with the person making the argument!

   What was the standard reference before WWII?

     @ZachWeinersmith "the big one" holds a special place in history, especially the history of mass communication and industrialization. There is nothing to compare with the "manufacture of death" we saw at Dachau and Auschwitz and combined with the collective unconscious dream/nightmare programming of newsreels.

     Did you know folks used to think dreaming in black and white was normal? They're related phenomena, I believe.
