something I've noticed about the vindictive activism people on here, is that they make stuff up on the fly whenever they are talking about 'bad actors' on fedi, they make very subtle lies that people just blindly believe. I had another public instance which ended up on fediblock some time ago, that's whatever, but then they said I was using another instances private signing key on that server in order to view posts I wasn't supposed to be seeing. It was a totally unfounded claim, they couldn't have known I was using a thing like that because they do not have shell access to my server, but they still made up that lie anyway.
I advise the nice people on the cleaner side of the fediverse to remain vigilant when looking at fediblock reports, do not believe any claims the author can't possibly know the truths of. It makes an already bad situation for an instance even worse when a subtle lie is thrown in there that makes the other instance look bad, and people just blindly believe it

@kirby i think this is true - also there is just plain misinformation. you hear "xyz is doing abc" - you take your friend at face value - you dont want to go to detroit riot city & start trawling through post history just to double check something about some racist youve never heard of. but then no one does that, & information mutates. its also related to how cleaner open federation instances sometimes get lumped in with dark fedi - part of it i think is politically trying to disenfranchise open federation, from, say, dotart & the like. but then people don't want to check for lolicon receipts or whatever, they blindly import the blocklist , & then their own instance is now a source perpetrating this
